 So much real estate is in the news this week! For all of you investors, there are proposals in the works to either completely eliminate or severely limit 1031 Exchanges. These proposals also significantly lengthen depreciation schedules for both personal property and real property assets and effectively raise the tax rate on recaptured depreciation for real estate, taxing it as ordinary income. First Zip Realty merges with Realogy (owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, ERA, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Coldwell Banker Commercial).  Now rumors are rumbling that Zillow and Trulia (and possibly Realtor.com) will be merging.  So much consolidation, so few choices!
