2014 seems to be the year of brokerage consolidation! First Realogy/NRT (which owns Coldwell Banker, Sotheby's, ERA, and many more ) purchased ZipRealty earlier this year.  Now Berkshire Hathaway, which bought Intero/Alain Pinel, is in talks with Prudential Realty to join their HomeServices Network. In an effort to compete with Zillow and Redfin in the instantaneous data arena, Auction.com has teamed up with Google to create "Nowcasts" which will, "deliver timely analysis of current market conditions can provide critical insight and enhanced predictability to industry professionals, economists and government entities alike."  Auction.com does a very small slice of the nationwide transactions, so we'll see how well their data stacks up with what regional MLSs, Zillow, and Redfin's data.
